Mary is CEO of The Reward Foundation - Love, Sex and the Internet (http://rewardfoundation.org). With a background and experience in law, psychology, leadership training, working with young people in universities and schools, she delivers lively workshops to professionals and children on the impact of internet pornography on relationships, mental and physical health, learning and criminality. She also runs '24 hr digital detox challenges' in schools to make pupils aware of what an urge feels like to do something they have committed to avoid doing for a short time. This helps build resilience and self control across a range of behaviours and is a key characteristic of successful people. The charity provides prevention strategies and signposts remedies for those who have become snared by compulsive use of internet pornography.
A bit about my organisational mission / the work that I do...
We are an educational charity that makes the research about healthy sexual loving relationships accessible to a wide audience. We focus on impact of internet pornography on the mental and physical health, relationships and legal liability of users especially young people. Having been accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners to offer continuing professional development training, we provide one day workshops to healthcare professionals on this subject. We signpost routes to recovery based on best practice and the experience of thousands of people who have quit pornography. We also suggest how to build resilience to compulsive use. We are not anti-porn activists and are a non-political, non-religious organisation. Our work is evidence based.
