Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace

This workshop will look at both the mental and physiological symptoms from stress and poor mental health that can make work a constant struggle. Research by healthcare provider SimplyHealth revealed that 56% of the UK workforce believes talking to senior management about a mental health issue would inhibit their career prospects. What we are all yet to realise, is that it actually makes incredibly good business sense to support workers experiencing mental health issues. Not only can it increase loyalty and motivation, it could help reduce the amount of sick days that are taken. In 2014/15, stress accounted for 35% of all work related ill health cases and 43% of all working days lost to ill health. If employees are forced to internalise their struggle based on fear of discrimination, it will of course have a negative effect for all. Facilitated by Catherine Eadie, TMP Member and Founding Director of MHScot Workplace Wellbeing, who brings with her over 25 years of experience working in the mental health profession. Whether you're a sole-trader, a one-person business or have a small number of staff, the sooner you understand this issue the better.  You also have to appreciate that looking after yourself is the best investment you can make so that you are then better equipped to support and nurture others. Tickets are £10 (inc VAT) for the public, or FREE for TMP MEmbers - book using the link below.
