International Women’s Day at TMP

Thursday 8 March is International Women’s Day 2018! A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The Melting Pot is chock-full of inspirational people whose work empowers women and improves the gender equality of our communities. What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than share their knowledge and experience? As women and allies living in the age of #fakenews, it’s more important than ever to arm ourselves with facts and engage with the discussion surrounding women’s rights. Join us in an informal setting over lunch, to hear from a number of TMP members.  Speakers include:  Monica Martins from Fearless Femme. Founder of Fearless Femme Eve Hepburn participated in the Good Ideas Class 2016-17. In February the team launched the UK magazine Fearless Femme to support fierce, intelligent women and femmes fighting mental health stigma. Director of Fathers Network Scotland Sam Pringle. She's going to be talking about the gender care gap and the domestic contract #DadUp. Mairi Campbell-Jack is a writer and Parliamentary Engagement Officer for Quakers in Britain. Mairi will be giving us her Top 5 recommendations for books that have an alternative or interesting approach to representing women. Martin Hayward from the Equality and Human Rights Commission will draw from his work and experience to talk about women's rights.
