Social Entrepreneurs' Chat Show

On this night we will explore the meaning, impact and importance of great place making – that help our communities to flourish. We are happy to announce the return of the Social Entrepreneurs' Chat Show as a part of our TMPevents: Inspiring series. Our star studded line up will be hosted by Claire Carpenter, founder of The Melting Pot. As usual the interviews will be filmed and posted online (free for download) afterwards to spread the inspiration and learning far and wide. On the sofa with Claire and being filmed will be three social entrepreneurs whose work focuses on the theme of local place making. The Chat Show stars are: Life-long activist and co-founder of the GalGael Trust, Gehan Macleod Pioneer in securing urban community assets, Pauline Gallacher from Neilston Development Trust Founder of locally based community coworking hub, Danielle Trudeau, Tribe Porty The aim of the event is to raise awareness of and share insights from the incredible work being done through these organisations that are providing physical spaces that act as catalysts and enablers of their local community. This year featuring support from Chivas Regal and The Venture   We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Perthshire whisky makers Chivas Regal for this years' event. Founded in Aberdeen in the 19th century by the Chivas brothers and still made at the Strathisla distillery in Speyside, Chivas Regal is through and through a product of its place; from the brothers who supported the local community to the flavours of the Scottish countryside evoked in every bottle. And now, from those early beginnings, Chivas is looking to give back and support a new breed of entrepreneur with The Venture. This is a global competition with $1 million USD in funding up for grabs; The Venture is all about enabling a new generation of social entrepreneurs to create positive social change. More info will be provided on the night but if you are an established, for-profit start up which is using business as a force for good you can apply right now. Open until 30 November. What you can expect Conversations and dialogue are more powerful and engaging than presentations and power points - delving into the realms of human interest and storytelling. You’ll hear from three social entrepreneurs giving an open and honest account of why they started, what drives and sustains them, and what advice they would give to others setting up and running their social enterprise. The Chat Show will be followed by a networking reception with the interviewees and guests from the public, private and third sectors - giving you a chance to build your own connections and share your own stories with one another. You should come if you are interested in... How ‘social enterprise’ and 'social entrepreneurs' can and are changing the world Setting up a social enterprise, are running one, or assisting others to develop one - particularly one focusing on making spaces and developing community assets The social enterprise movement from an intellectual/philosophical/anthropological or policy view The personal journey of successful social entrepreneurs - combining business realities with social change outputs Hearing more about The Venture, what it entails and how it is changing the world for the better An informal yet professional networking opportunity with a diverse, interesting audience over a glass of chilled win Sampling delicious Chivas Regal whisky from their dedicated bar Global Entrepreneurship Week This event is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), forming just one of a range of events taking place in 120 countries and reaching millions of people.
